The evening included a key note speech by Tony Grayling, Head of Climate Change and Sustainable Development at the Environment Agency. In his role as the lead party within the Agency for the adoption of clean technology solutions, he said: "The Rushlight Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate British & Irish environmental innovation. We will need all the innovation and entrepreneurship we can get to tackle the environmental challenges of the 21st century, especially the drive to a sustainable low carbon economy."
The evening was rounded off by the wondrous skills of Nick Einhorn, a Gold Star member of The Inner Magic Circle, who had a number of tricks up his sleeve! This included positioning a brave and unwitting volunteer in Doug Parr on stage on a chair adjacent to a nuclear symbol, much to the delight of the good-natured audience!
